Horticulture

There are concrete possibilities for applying more renewable energy within the glasshouse horticulture. E Kwadraat Advies provides advice and offers assistance to companies within the glasshouse horticulture sector regarding the choice of renewable energy. Besides this, we initiate collaborative projects and pilot projects with different partners, including the authorities, organisations and glasshouse growers.

Work and working method
We assist glasshouse growers through the entire process. The process generally includes the following steps:
- investigating the feasibility of renewable energy
- applying for environmental and planning permissions
- supporting finance applications, for example by applying for subsidies
- assisting in the implementation of renewable energy in the company
- after-care, for example in realising a cash-flow of subsidies

In our working method we look further than just the glasshouse grower: we also investigate how parties in the chain can enhance and supplement each other.

Our working method is characterised by:- practical advice and no bulky, illegible reports
- we look at every aspect of the chain
- realistic view of the economic feasibility
- tailor-made work

Examples of projects for the glasshouse horticultural sector:
- Project De Waddenkas: innovative (sustainable) technologies are tested in practice at glasshouse horticulture companies with the objective of implementing them.
- Assistance with establishing wood-fired installations in glasshouse horticulture companies that grow vegetables, including applying for permits and investment subsidies.
- Investigating the possibilities for renewable energy in glasshouse horticulture areas.
- Mapping the consequences of an investment in geothermal energy with choices in energy management at a glasshouse horticultural company.
- Assistance with pilot projects, such as conditioned growth in a semi-closed greenhouse with the help of FiWiHex,  LED research, Application of Green CO2 (from biomass) and Nutrient Floating Technology (NFT growth)
- Transferring knowledge of renewable energy to glasshouse growers and organisations
